BattleBots and Perspective

5 Apr

When I moved to Minnesota, someone asked me, “So, do you hunt or fish?” Well, to me, the possible answers to that question were “Yes” or “No.” But to the person asking thought the possible answers were “Hunt” or “Fish” (or even “Both”).

Sometimes, people will use sports analogies. I don’t follow sports. Before the Superbowl, I’ll look up online to see what teams are playing to be able to converse. The last sport I followed was BattleBots. Needless to say, they don’t normally include robot battles in their analogies. But wouldn’t that be awesome?

So you might be asking yourself, “What’s the point?” Well, the point is that there’s always many different perspectives on things.  On this blog, you’ll get writings from many different writers. Sometimes you’ll connect with the message, and sometimes you won’t. People don’t bat 1.000, always get their kill, or get all 15 points from the BattleBot judges.

I hope you enjoy what I and others here write.

The thing I most regret is that I didn’t have TiVo back then and could watch an episode in 9 minutes.

BattleBots was the best… I particularly enjoyed the bots that had the hydraulic axes and hammers equipped. It was so satisfying to see the wimpy bots get incinerated! The only sports that I follow are World Cup and the Olympics 🙂
